EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (Killeen & Waco)

Dear Subway Employee,

Congratulations! You have been chosen to join our Subway team in your quest for excellence. Subway is currently the leader in the industry for growth and opportunity. You are an important part of our success, so we have initiated a program to equip you with the necessary tools to perform your job duties. The Employee Development Program should afford you an opportunity to understand what you need to do to increase your job knowledge and wage earnings, while working at Subway. If you fulfill your part of this investment, we promise that you will:

1. Improve your hourly wage rate.
2. Improve your chances to advance in the company.
3. Learn important skills, such as customer service, food preparation, and crime prevention.
4. Feel better about yourself and your contributions to the company.

Every sandwich artist begins working at $7.25 per hour and can rapidly increase wage earnings by following these simple steps:

To achieve your hourly raise, the sandwich artist must complete the Subway classes below before their 6-month anniversary of employment. Completion after the 6-month anniversary will delay the raise.

1. Complete a state required food safety class and turn in a Health Card (where applicable).
2. Attend the Crime Prevention and Safety Class & Test (80% or higher).
3. Attend the Customer Service Class & Test (80% or higher).
4. Complete Sandwich Artist Certification with your area supervisor.
5. Complete the following online University of Subway Sandwich Artist Step courses:

STEP 1- How to Earn A $50.00 Bonus

a. Creating a Professional Atmosphere (Customer Service) 50 min.
b. Customer Illness (Customer Service) 30 min.
c. Exceptional Customer Service (Customer Service) 30 min.
d. Exterior Building Appearance (Cleaning/Maintenance) 11 min.
e. Flatbread Preparation (Food Preparation) 5 min.
f. Food Preparation (Food Preparation & Products) 45 min.
g. Front Line Food Safety (Food Handling) 40 min.
h. How the Front Line Operates (Customer Service) 21 min.
i. Resolving Customer Complaints (Customer Service) 30 min.
j. Service and Customer Area Equipment Overview (Equipment) 15 min.
k. Store Security and Safety Procedure (Safety) 20 min.
l. Suggestive Selling (Customer Service) 10 min.
m. The Subway Way (Restaurant Ownership) 30 min.
n. Thru-Put (Other) 40 min.

PAYROLL NOTES: On your first paycheck, you will be paid for Orientation. The week you attend either the Customer Service Class or the Crime Prevention & Safety Class you will be paid 1 hour for training. Upon successful completion of University of Subway classes above (a-n) you will be paid $50.00 for your training time. Congratulations on your accomplishment! Continue to complete your University of Subway classes as you strive to increase your hourly rate of pay. E-mail your Employee Development Coordinator informing him/her of your recent completion of Step 1 and print a copy of your progress report and submit a copy to your Store Manager, so that your training can be verified, as quickly as possible.

d. Food Pans (Food Preparation & Products) 20 min.
e. Fuze Iced Tea (Food Preparation & Products) 10 min.
f. How to Build (Other) 80 min.
g. How to Build a Breakfast Sandwich (Food Preparation & Products) 17 min.
h. Produce - "Keeping It Fresh" (Food Handling) 20 min.
i. Safe Knife and Sharps Handling (Safety) 10 min.
j. Soup Program (Food Preparation) 12 min.
k. Value 101 (Marketing & Advertising) 50 min.

PAYROLL NOTES: Upon successful completion of University of Subway classes above (a-k) you will be paid $50.00 for your training time. Congratulations on your accomplishment! You have now completed step 2 in a three step process to increase your pay to $8.00 per hour. You are rapidly becoming a valuable Subway Sandwich Artist. To improve the timeliness of verification, e-mail your Employee Development Coordinator informing him/her of your recent completion of Step 2 and print a copy of your University of Subway class completions and turn in the listing to your Store Manager.

STEP 3-How to Earn a $50 Bonus

b. Cleaning the Back of the Restaurant (Cleaning/Maintenance) 23 min.
c. Cleaning the Beverage Station (Cleaning/Maintenance) 20 min.
d. Cleaning the Customer Area and Restrooms (Cleaning/Maintenance) 30 min.
e. Creating Party Platters (Food Preparation & Products) 10 min.
f. Emergency Situations (Customer Service) 16 min.
g. Handling Deliveries (Food Handling) 20 min.
h. Operating the POS (Other) 30 min.
i. Robbery (Safety) 30 min.
j. Safe Chemical Handling (Safety) 12 min.
k. Safe Lifting Techniques (Safety) 10 min.
l. Serving Customers with Disabilities (Customer Service) 10 min.
m. Subway POS Dashboard (Other) 30 min.
n. Subway POS Ringing in Sales (POS) 35 min.
o. Subway, English to Spanish (Miscellaneous) 15 min.

PAYROLL NOTES: Congratulations, if you completed all of the above listed University of Subway classes above (a-o) you will be paid $50.00 for your training time. Also, if you have received or obtained a current Health Card, attended the Customer Service and Crime Prevention classes, received your Sandwich Artist Certification pin, and completed all of the University of Subway classes, you have qualified for a Texas Subs’ Master Sandwich Artist Pin and you earned an hourly pay raise to $8.00. Your hourly rate of pay increases on the Wednesday after successful completion and verification of classes by your supervisor. To improve the timeliness of verification, e-mail your Employee Development Coordinator informing him/her of your recent completion of Step 3 and print a copy of your University of Subway class completions and turn in the listing to your Store Manager. Upon the 6-month anniversary of your successful completion of these classes, you will earn a 25¢ per hour raise for each six (6) month period of employment until you reach a maximum hourly rate of $10.00. It is our goal that your experience and confidence in your skills as a Sandwich Artist will motivate you to seek a management position within the company.
